BRICS National Security Advisers to Convene in India for Key Talks on Emerging Global Security Threats
India will host a two-day BRICS National Security Advisers Meeting beginning Monday under the chairmanship of National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. Senior security officials from BRICS member countries will discuss non-traditional security challenges, emerging threats linked to new technologies, and review the outcomes of joint working groups on counter-terrorism and information and communication technology security.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the National Security Advisers and Heads of Delegation of BRICS member countries will exchange views on the theme of non-traditional security challenges and their growing impact on global stability. The discussions will focus on the rapidly evolving nature of national security challenges and examine the role of new technologies in creating emerging security threats.
The meeting will also review the outcomes of the recently held BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and on Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies. The participating delegations are expected to assess the progress made by these mechanisms and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in addressing evolving threats.
The gathering assumes significance as BRICS member countries seek to enhance coordination on contemporary security issues amid an increasingly complex global environment. The deliberations are expected to provide an important platform for collective engagement on emerging challenges linked to terrorism, technology, and non-traditional security concerns.
